The off season in 2009 produced some exciting times for both
the Glen Huon and Ranleagh-Grove Cricket Clubs.
Over a couple of positive meetings the clubs decided to
merge, creating a new identity to be known as the North Huon
Warriors.
A working committee has been set up to see through the
formation process leading up to the inaugural AGM on Friday,
September 4 at the Ranelagh Clubrooms.
It is anticipated that the Warriors will be able to field 4
senior sides in this year’s HCCA competition, and provide a
much more competitive pathway for players to progress
through the ranks than in the past at either club.
The idea of the North Huon Cricket Club has already
generated a lot of excitement and talk, with a number of
former players expressing interest in joining this new
setup.
Lyndon Stevenson has been appointed interim coach of the
Club, and training will commence this coming Friday, August
28 at 7pm at the TCA nets in Hobart.
You can contact Lyndon with any enquiries on 0438 308 100.
Training during the summer will be shared between the Glen
Huon and Ranelagh grounds.
The Warriors uniform will be yellow and black, and the Club
is hopeful of attracting enough sponsorship to cover the
cost of the new uniform for players this year, mindful of
the amount that was spent last year by both clubs.
Most of the people involved in the decision process have
been very upbeat and excited about the merger, and if this
enthusiasm is carried onto the playing field new club
should be very competitive. |
