Fielding four Grade sides, five junior divisions and an inaugural Huon Valley female cricket side, earning a spot in the A1, B2 and C1 finals and taking out the premiership in the Under 16s, the North Huon Warriors Cricket Club is looking forward to building on last year’s success in the upcoming HCCA 2019/20 season.
Committee stalwarts Lyndon Stevenson (president), Harvey Stevenson (vice-president) and Marcus Raine (secretary) were re-elected unopposed at the club’s recent AGM, and they will be joined on the executive by newcomer David Bourne (treasurer and junior coordinator).
The club was pleased to see some of the young players putting up their hands to take on committee positions in Andrew Crowe and Jacob Stanway, and welcomes them to their new positions.
Neville Banfield, again, graciously accepted the position as patron of the club. The club has had just as much success off the field as it has on, and has secured valuable sponsorship over the last three years, which has allowed it to invest in female and junior cricket and to replace the pitch at Ranelagh Oval.
This season will see a change of playing shirt and, also thanks to sponsorship, a shirt will be included in the club registration fees for all Grade, Junior and Women players this year.
After several years unchanged, this year, to cover rising operational costs, the club has made the hard decision to raise fees slightly, with the season Grade registration fee set at $200 (concession $120), including a playing shirt and earning a $20 discount if paid before the Huon Show.
Junior players are up for $120 for the season, which includes a playing shirt and cap, while the girls will pay just $50, which will include a playing shirt and be covered entirely by the club.
Club registrations are open at playcricket.com.au (https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details?Id=15816&postcode=RANELAGH%20TAS%207109&format=Indoor_Juniors_Indoor_Senior,JUNIOR,SENIOR,JUNIOR_BLASTER,MASTER_BLASTER,HOLIDAY_PROGRAM&disablity=1,2,4,8,16) for all Grade, Junior and female players, and the club welcomes returning and new members.
Training is currently Wednesdays from 6pm at the Huonville PCYC through till the end of September, before moving outside.
