With some congestion in the A Grade ladder, North Huon needed to win against Margate to consolidate its position in the top four, and look forward to continuing on after the split in the divisions.
After the home side won the toss and elected to bat, Josh Stevenson soon had them scrambling with a wicket in the first over. From here, the bowlers did not relent, constant wickets keeping the pressure right on Margate, who were eventually bowled out for 112.
Stevenson, Stanway and Roberts all took 2 wickets, with singles going to Cordwell and Paul, and 2 run outs seeing out the dismissals.
Looking to consolidate their position, the North Huon openers Sam Roberts and Brad Pitt were never troubles, cruising past the total without loss to record an emphatic victory, and head towards the challenge of the top division after the split.
B Grade travelled to Sung, and only Shane Fletcher with 30 provided any fight with the bat, the side being dismissed for 80.
Some inspired captaincy from Jackson Pastoor saw Luke Stocks open the bowling, who soon made early inroads to give North Huon a sniff with 4-18 from 9.
Fletcher continued the ‘spin for the win’ tactic, taking a further 4 wickets, but the total proved just too small, Snug passing it 9 down.
With C2 Grade enjoying the week off, C1 was left to fly the Sunday flag, and didnt disappoint, Will Austin sending down some truly deceptive straight deliveries to take 5-15 and help bowl Margate out for 70. This proved no problem for the home side, losing just 2 wickets on the way to a win, Braeden Page top scoring with 35*.
Next week sees all grades have the week off to enjoy Australia Day, with training continuing on as normal.
