Saturday saw A Grade travel to Cygnet to take on minor premiers Slab Road for a spot in the Grand Final.
With nothing to lose but the toss, the Warriors found themselves in the field to start with. With a number of partnerships throughout the innings, Slab Road were able to maintain momentum throughout the morning, and whilst North Huon made inroads, primarily through Bevan Roberts, they were left to rue a number of chances, albeit difficult, slip through their fingers.
Set 284 to keep the season alive, a catastrophic run out set the tone for the innings early. From here, the top and middle order again had a day to forget, pushing to 8-91 before Bevan Roberts, Shane Fletcher and Mark Cordwell delayed the inevitable, fighting it out to push the score to 168 before the last wicket fell.
Whilst ultimately disappointing, the group can be proud of their improvement this year, and can look forward to even better results next year.
C1 also had a trip to Cygnet, and got off to a great start in the field, with Riley Anning and Braeden Page both capturing 2 early wickets to have Slab Road 4-25. A partnership then followed, only to be broken with 2 wickets to David Bourne. Another wicket each to Anning and Page, and 2 run outs saw a target of 174 set for victory.
An early wicket saw the chase on the back foot, but the total crept closer through Taylor Campisi, Bourne and Page.
3-86 become 5-96 with the loss of Page and Sullivan, before Will Austin and Troy Page put on nearly 50. The loss of these 2 batsmen on 141, saw the total become a lot further off, and the remaining batsmen could not hold on, North Huon eventually falling 10 runs short in a close game.
This leave B Grade as the sole team left for the season, who will take on Snug at Ranelagh on Saturday.
The game kicks off at 10:30, so get along and get behind the young B Grade side, looking to get one more win for the year.
