NORTH HUON WARRIORS YELLOW
Jack Batchelor is pictured showing the style that saw him take a blinding catch in the Cat 1 game against Kettering on Monday night, and earning the player of the match.
The North Huon Yellow side played their best game of the year, against a strong Mariners batting line up.
Not daunted by the Kettering openers scoring at around 18 runs per over, the North Huon lads pulled them back, and took four wickets along the way, including Jack’s catch, and another great chance to Max Kull.
Alex Leaman, after copping some early punishment, came back exceptionally well to take two wickets, with Max and Zach Darke the other wickets takes.
Lucas Raine generated many chances, and Sam Clark bowled superbly.
As they took the crease themselves, the boys set the task of getting through without losing a wicket.
Openers Lucas and Joey Cartridge were travelling famously well, before Lucas was caught on a great chance off his last ball.
The catch was good enough to earn a high five from Lucas on the way off!.
Joey and Lucas both finished with 11, and Alex scored a tidy eight without getting out.
Zach top scored with 19, again without getting out, and Sam scored seven without loss of wicket.
Max and Jack brought up the tail, and lost three wickets between them, however the team total of four outs was a great result – Mac finished with 16 and Jack 5.
The whole side were great all game, with plenty of encouraging words to each other, and should all be commended for a great evening out.
NORTH HUON BLACK
The junior Warriors Stage 1 Black team hosted Margate Red at Ranelagh on Regatta Day.
The visitors won the toss and senT North Huon in to bat in front of a decent crowd.
AJ Terry (13) got the Warriors off to a steady start, but some good fielding and a few mix-ups in the running between the wickets had the Warriors looking shaky at 6-46 after 10 overs.
Oscar Bourne (18) steadied the ship, before captain Lewis
Thorpe (26) and Xavier Coulson (16) fired up to post a defendable total of 10-112.
“Macca” from Margate Red bowled superbly to pick up 5-11 off his three overs, including a team hat-trick.
Margate settled into batting and kept the total ticking over throughout the entire innings, despite wickets falling regularly.
Jack Stevenson was on target and achieved his best ever bowling figures (3-9).
Jack was supported well by Xavier Coulson (2-10), Jethro Penney (2-16) and Lewis (2-20).
Hugh Murray stole the day in the field with an overhead screamer in the covers followed by three quality catches behind the stumps.
Despite the catches, ground fielding let the team down, with several overthrows and fumbles gifting runs to the Margate
scoresheet.
In a very tight match, the Warriors lost by just six runs to friendly and fun opponents, with Margate reaching 10-118 from their 20 overs.
