UNDER 13
Despite the wild weather conditions, the North Huon Warriors Under 13 side took on the Southern Tigers at Glen Huon Oval last night, with the Warriors winning the toss and electing to bat first.
With the Tigers a few short, Warriors Archie Pepper, Blaine Pearce and Jayden Fletcher showed great sportsmanship by pulling on the Tigers’ colours for the match to ensure the game could go ahead, giving their all for their adopted club, Pepper taking two wickets and making two runs, Fletcher making eight and Pearce picking up a wicket.
The seasoned Lucas Sullivan and Ollie Coulson opened the batting for the Warriors, facing up to Ollie Thorpe and pocket rocket Ryan Jager, Sullivan making 14 runs, including two boundaries, before young Jager made the breakthrough.
Phil Hale and Jacob Richards were the pick of the batsmen for the Warriors – Hale making an undefeated 22 and Richards also not out on 19 at the end of the innings.
The Warriors setting a total of 115 runs after their 20 overs.
In reply, Sullivan and Brady Harriss opened with the pill for the Warriors, Sullivan picking up the wicket of teammate Fletcher in his second over.
Hale performed as well with the ball as he had with the bat, picking up two wickets for just four runs, but Lochie Cordwell was best with the ball picking up two wickets for just two runs off his two overs.
In the end the Tigers fell short by 31 runs, finishing on 8-84 after their 20 – the Warriors undefeated on top of the ladder.
