Set up for a strong season

North Huon Cricket Club is ready for season 2019/20, with president Lyndon Stevenson saying the club is in a strong position both on and off the field.

This week sees the seniors starting to train on Ranelagh Oval, with a session at 10am this Saturday, October 5 and moving to regular training times next week, each Tuesday and Thursday night from 6pm.

Lyndon said it is good to see the senior players getting more involved with the junior players this season, with A Grade players Andrew Crowe and Kyle Paul taking on the coaching of the Under 15 side and other players helping out where they can with the younger players.

“It’s a great way to develop local talent,” said Lyndon.

“Our juniors can play with a strong club locally, and they will be our talented senior players of the future.”

Lyndon said the club is looking to further strengthen its position in women’s cricket – hoping to field a junior girls’ side again as well as a brand new women’s side.

The club hopes to work with other clubs in the region to develop a local women’s competition, building momentum over future seasons as female participation in the sport grows.

Lyndon urged all players to get along to training and set themselves up for a good season.

“We ask that all players represent the club, the sponsors and themselves with pride for the upcoming season,” concluded Lyndon.
