The North Huon Cricket Club hosted its Past Payers and Sponsors Day on Sunday, with a great crowd turning out to watch the A grade side take on Southern Tigers.
Xavier Doherty spec the afternoon at the club, having a hit with the juniors, and having an ‘on the stool’ interview with Life Member Harvey Stevenson.
The club was also able to recognise the 2003-04 Glen Huon A Grade premiership side, and the 1993-94 B and C Grade premiership sides from Ranelagh Grove.
In the cricket, North Huon had a few contributors to keep the total ticking along, eventually finishing on 8-247. Brad Pitt led the way with 67, but had support from Sam Roberts, Kyle Paul, Lachie Fraser and Josh Stevenson who all got starts.
In reply, the Southern Tigers fought hard early, despite and early wicket to Jacob Stanway. 3 run outs didnt help the cause, and Mark Cordwell with 3-21 helped the home side record a victory, the Tigers bowled out for 192.
In B Grade at Ranelagh, Judbury amassed a big score against the young home side. Jaxon Thorpe was a shining light with the ball taking 4 wickets, and WIll Quarrier took 3, but 7-33 was always going to be a massive total to chase.
Sam Kile dug in for North Huon with 28, but wasnt able to get a lot of support, North Huon bowled out for 110.
The two C Grade sides played in the derby at Glen Huon, with the C1 side coming out on top.
Batting first, C2 posted 167, Mitch Sullivan solid through the middle order with 55*, and George Halliday chipped in with 28 at the top of the order. For C1, Lewis Campisi took 3 wickets, and Braeden Page and Cam Woolley took 2 each.
Taylor Campisi led the charge with 88 to steer the C1 side home for the loss of only 3 wickets.
Next weeks games see A Grade travel to Margate, B Grade at Ranelagh against Snug, whilst C1 are at Ranelagh against Margate. C2 have the week off.
