North Huon’s A Grade side travelled up to Snug on Saturday, but went down in a thriller, losing by 3 runs.
Toght bilwing early saw scoring restricted for the home side, Josh Stevenson and Jacob Stanway keeping a reign in things.
The middle overs saw Mark Cordwell make inroads into the batting line up – taking 4 wickets while Kyle Paul took 2.
The Snug tail was able to wag slightly, eventually pushing the total up to 154.
A semmingly gettabke target looked easier after Sam Roberts and Brad Pitt put on 39, and then Pitt and Adam Crowe saw a further 42 on the board.
The dismissal of Crowe saw a big count of wickets fall however, North Huon losing 5-2 to go from 1-81 to 6-83.
Stanway stood up to steer the side home with a determined 40, but his wicket at 8-137 saw too much pressure left for the rest, North Huon falling 3 runs short in the chase to suffer their first loss for the year.
B Grade hosted Kingston Crows at Glen Huon, and ticked off their first goal by batting through the overs to record 7-188.
Braeden Page top scored with 54, while Jaxon Thorpe again impressed with 30, and Troy Page posted 28 not out at the end with a flurry.
Braeden continued his good form with the ball, taking 3 key wickets, but a coupe of key chances that went begging allowed Kingston to cruise to the total for the loss of 5 wickets.
C1 Grade travelled over the hill to Blackmans Bay on Sunday, but we’re unabke to come home with the points.
The Sharks put on 236 before being dismissed, David Bourne taking 3 wickets, while Riley Anning, Braxton Pike and Baydon Armstrong took 2 each.
The run chase started steadily enough through Taylor Canpisi and Chris Crowe, but steady wickets saw the task become too much, North Huon being bowled out for 122.
The under 16s kicked off their season in style on Friday night, bowling an undermanned Huonville side out for just 14, which they had no trouble chasing down.
Next week see A Grade take on ladder leaders Blackmans Bay at Glen Huon, B Grade travel to Slab Road, C1 Grade are at home at Glen Huon to Snug, and C2 also travel to Slab Road.
The T20 side is also in action on Tuesday evening, traveling to Huonville.
