Round 16 Wrap Up

The last roster game before finals saw A Grade looking to carry their form into finals, whilst B Grade had to win to ensure a finals berth.

A Grade travelled to Margate, and welcomed back a full complement of players after cruising the tropical seas. A great bowling performance shared around saw Margate bowled out for 125, with Bevan Roberts taking 3, Aiden Geeves, Braeden Page, Jacob Stanway taking 2, Josh Stevenson 1, and the only bowler to go wicketless Kieren Wright also only went for 7 runs from 5 overs.

The small total suddenly got very big with 3 wickets on the shed for just 2 runs, and North Huon then slumped to 4-25 before the 2 Crowes Adam and Andrew dug in to take the score to 67.

Unfortunately that wold be the end of any fight, with the next 6 wickets falling for just 15, with only Adam Crowe with 53 making any headway.

Not the ideal preparation for finals, but certainly a great base to improve from.

B Grade, on the back of 5-25 from Paul Jacques, bowled Blackmans Bay out for 179. Jamie Mullins and Shane Fletcher both chipped in with 2 wickets to help out.

In reply, Joe Roberts and Jackson Pastoor got the side off to a great start, racing along at a run a ball. Joe fell eventually for 48, and Jackson for 73 before a quick shower interrupted proceedings. On resumption, Fletcher and Phil bell were Abel to pass the total without further loss, and ensure 3rd spot on the ladder.

The two C Grade sides played each other in the 3rd derby of the year.

Batting first, C1 posted 177 after being bowled out in the 46th over. Troy Page led from the from, scoring 68 opening the batting for C1, and Scott Coad wound back the clock chipping in with 23.

For the C2 side, Blake Lovell, opening the bowling with his spin, took 3-33, and Henry McGuire took 3-7 from 4.2 overs to close out the innings.

In reply, Daniel Page took 3 early wickets to leave C2 5-49, but Troy Geeves held steady, and formed partnerships with the lower order to see C2 bat out the overs 9 down, and push the C2 side to just fall 14 runs short.

Both C Grade sides have 1 more roster match before finals next week.
