Young Warriors’ fielding on target

The North Huon Warriors stage 1 team headed to Lightwood Park on Monday night to face Kingborough White. Young Max Stevenson officially joined the group and was proud to debut alongside his brother Jack, giving the Warriors a full squad of 7 players.

Captain Alex Leaman was sent in to bat and confidently led the way with 11 runs, conjuring another dozen runs for the team with excellent calling and running between the wickets. Easy runs were hard to come by with Jack (16) and Connor (11) the other significant contributors as the Warriors battled to reach a score of 4/90.

During the week the juniors trained hard on improving their fielding execution under pressure. A stretch target of three run outs (1 x packet of snakes at training this week) was met with delight by the players in the sixth over! Seb (1/8) was excellent in the outfield, whilst Alex (1/5) probably deserved more wickets with quality line and length.

Kingborough White were restricted to 7/75 with the Warriors completing five run outs in the innings. The end result was a win for the Warriors 4/117 to 7/91. Warrior of the week was awarded to captain Alex for strong leadership as well as a fine performance with both bat and ball.
