Crikey, it’s time for cricket!

Following the wind up of the football season with the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, Cricket Tasmania’s John Lee and Bec Oliver headed to Ranelagh Oval on Sunday to host a Cricket Blast introduction to junior cricket session.

Despite pretty wintery conditions, around 30 kids braved the cold and had a go at batting, bowling and wicket keeping as well as enjoying a sausage in the clubrooms, just in time to get out of the rain.

Slab Road Cricket Club’s junior coordinator Julian Direen and North Huon Cricket Club’s junior coordinator David Bourne were both on hand to field queries about local registration and Slab Road, North Huon, Southern Tigers and Huonville clubs are all currently offering a discount on Woolworths Cricket Blast Programmes by using the code HUONVALLEYBLAST when registering at www.playcricket.com.au

North Huon Cricket Club president Lyndon Stevenson thanked Cricket Tasmania for running the event.

Registrations are still open for North Huon Cricket Club juniors at  https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details?Id=15816
