A balmy Wednesday afternoon saw the return of the North Huon Under 13 side after a years recess, with Slab Road making the trip up to Glen Huon.
Coaches Dean Harriss and Mitch Sullivan have been working hard with the large group of boys to get them ready for the season, and couldn’t ask for better conditions to kick off in.
Batting first, the visiting side were able to post 99 from their allotted 25 overs.
Dylan Parremore picked up 2 wickets to be the pick of the bowlers, with Brady Harriss, Anthony Harrison, Scott Blackett and Ollie Coulson each grabbing one. All bowlers bowled well in their first outing, and will be better for the run.
In reply, the Warriors batted valiantly, in what was many of their first outs in competitive cricket.
Despite some great contributions from Jaxon Thorpe (20), Scott Blackett (27) and Lochie Cordwell (15no), they fell just one run short in the chase, closing the innings out on 98.
A fantastic first up effort from the lads who should be proud of themselves, and looking forward to taking on the Slab Road again (they swapped with Tigers this week) next Wednesday at Cygnet.
Thanks to all that helped on the evening, and came along to enjoy the game!
