Round 7 Wrap Up

Round 7 Wrap Up

Round 7, and final before the Christmas break, saw C1 Grade record their 2nd win for the year, to be the only side to do so.

Summerleas won’t the toss and elected to bat, and early wickets to Jackson Pastoor and Scott Coad got the Warriors off to a good start.

The Eagles dug in for a partnership before Tim Thorpe broke through. He followed up with 3 more, and two to Taylor Campisi saw the Eagles dismissed for 230.

In reply veteran Joe Roberts, returning for his first game for the year, held steady in the opening position while the first 2 wickets fell.

He found a willing ally in Will Collins. Joe was dismissed for 33, but Will kicked on to eventually be dismissed for 80 with 40 runs and 6 overs remaining. Andrew Crowe had been with him the bulk of that time, but with Will’s dismissal it was left to Tim Thorpe to cruise past the total off the first ball of the final over.

Crowe finished with 35 and Thorpe 34* in an important victory for the side.

A Grade put a s good performance against Kingston Crows, but ultimately fell short by 30 runs. Conditions didn’t help the home side, getting the worst of ti throughout the game, but little 1 presenters cost as well.

Adam Crowe, Marcus Raine and Josh Stevenson all took multiple wickets, but a solid Crows partnership in the upper order set them up for a big score. North Huon pulled it back well to restrict them to 268, which had the potential to be a lot higher.

Shane Fletcher set about the run chase resolutely at the top of the order, but his dismissal for 70 opened up the middle order which failed to kick on.

Dean Harris made 62 in another good contribution, but in the end the side could not quite chase down the total, finishing on 240.

B Grade put in an improved performance against the Crows, falling just 5 runs short. Chasing 224, Scott Stevenson with 43, and Cameron Woolley with 57 gave the chase a real shake, but could not quite get the cookies. On the bowling side, Connor Robson, Jake Phillips, George Parremore and Zac Duggan all took 2 wickets.

C2 as well fell short against Slab Road. Codie Rawnsley, again showing guile beyond his years, took 3-23 to keep Slab Road to 6-220.

In reply, the young Warriors put in a good performance as well, finishing on 9-195. Blake Lovell, Nathan Crellin, Jonny Thorpe and Mick Thorpe all scoring over 20.

The underages as well fell short, not being able to chase down Ketterings 7-152, Jakeb Shelverton and Codie Rawnsley both taking 2 wickets.

Will Quarrier continued his good form with the bat with 35, and Henry McGuire played a great 23*, but the lads fell 25 runs short in the chase.

The Club now takes a break for Christmas – training will resume on Tuesday, January 3 (Glen Huon) and Thursday January 5 (Ranelagh) for the next game back on January 7
