T20 week 2 write up

With rain and ground conditions forcing the abandonment of the Div 2 games, it was left to Div 1 to travel to Sherburd Park in the hope of having a hit.

Despite the snow over Vinces Saddle, conditions were surprisingly good over the hill. After a delayed start, resulting in a shortened 15 over game, North Huon batted first against Blackmans Bay.

A heavy shower couldn’t dampen spirits, and Josh Woolley and Sam Roberts each with scores the 20’s were able to get North Huon to squeeze out 5-92 from their 15 overs.

When North Huon took to the field, 3 overs was enough to sum up conditions, and the slow bowlers were brought in to stem the opening onslaught from the Bay.

Braeden Page and Luke Stocks both had immediate impact, slowing the scoring and taking wickets. A well deserved debut to the top flight for Stocks saw him go for only 8 runs from his 3 overs to be the pick of the bowlers.

Shane Fletcher and Brad Pitt continued to see the run rate under control, until 8 runs were still required from the last over. Pitt held his nerve, and saw the Warriors home conceding only 3.

The second game against the Tigers saw North Huon take to the field first, and the bowlers continue where they left off. Stocks again bowled well, While Phil Bell took 3 wickets in one over, and Braeden Page picked up a brace to see the Tigers dismissed for 46.

A changed batting order didn’t exactly go to plan, losing 5 wickets along the way, before Marcus Raine cleared the boundary a couple of times to finish the game, and return 20*.

The 2 wins will be enough to secure the T20 final to be held Sunday, November 13 at Glen Huon.
